ENVIRONMENTAL & SANITATION
Creating Cleaner Communities, Healthier Lives
A closer look at how Omsamarthan Foundation is improving sanitation, promoting environmental awareness, and supporting sustainable living through community-driven initiatives.
Introduction
A clean environment is essential for healthy communities, yet for millions living in underserved areas, access to proper sanitation, clean water, and safe surroundings remains a daily challenge. Poor waste management, lack of hygiene awareness, and inadequate infrastructure continue to affect both public health and quality of life.
At Omsamarthan Foundation, we believe that environmental care and sanitation are not just civic responsibilities—they are matters of dignity, health, and long-term sustainability. Through community campaigns, clean-up drives, awareness programmes, and infrastructure support, we work to create safer and healthier environments for those who need it most.
Supporting the Swachh Bharat Mission
As part of our commitment to community sanitation, Omsamarthan Foundation organised cleanliness drives in support of the Swachh Bharat mission. Volunteers came together to clean roads, public spaces, and surrounding community areas where waste accumulation had become a major concern.
These drives were more than just cleaning efforts—they were aimed at encouraging community participation and building a sense of shared responsibility for maintaining clean surroundings. Through direct involvement, residents were inspired to take ownership of their local environment and adopt cleaner habits in their daily lives.
Small awareness sessions were also held during these drives to educate families about waste disposal, hygiene, and the importance of maintaining public cleanliness.
Clean Water & Hygiene Awareness in Vulnerable Areas
Access to clean drinking water remains one of the most critical needs in low-income communities. In several slum areas where families struggled with water access, Omsamarthan Foundation facilitated the installation of clean water reservoirs to provide safer and more reliable water sources.
This initiative helped reduce the risks associated with contaminated water and improved daily access for families who otherwise had to rely on unsafe alternatives.
Alongside water access, we organised hygiene awareness campaigns where community members were educated about handwashing, sanitation practices, disease prevention, and maintaining personal cleanliness. These sessions focused particularly on women and children, who are often the most affected by poor hygiene conditions.
Promoting Sustainable Solutions Through Solar Support
Environmental sustainability also means finding practical and long-term solutions for communities facing energy challenges. To support this, Omsamarthan Foundation distributed solar lights to families living in areas with limited electricity access.
These solar lights provided safer and more reliable lighting for households, especially benefiting children for studying at night and improving safety for women and families after dark.
In addition, we promoted conversations around sustainable energy, environmental conservation, and reducing dependence on harmful or unreliable energy sources. Through these efforts, we aim to encourage communities to adopt cleaner and more sustainable practices for the future.
Building a Cleaner Future Together
Environmental change begins at the grassroots level. Through sanitation drives, clean water initiatives, hygiene education, road clean-ups, and solar light distribution, Omsamarthan Foundation continues to work towards healthier, cleaner, and more sustainable communities.
Every effort—whether cleaning a road, installing a water source, or educating a family—contributes to a larger vision of environmental responsibility and community well-being. Our mission remains rooted in creating meaningful, measurable social impact for a cleaner and better tomorrow.
